A female student of the Shehu Shagari College of Education in Sokoto state, simply identified as Ms Deborah, has been mobbed and burnt by some students of the school on the allegations of blasphemy.
According to reports, the incident took place on campus Thursday morning. The female student was said to have been beaten to death and subsequently burnt by fanatical Muslim students for allegedly insulting Prophet Muhammad.

She was said to be having an argument with some of her schoolmates over their ongoing examination and when she was asked how she managed to pass her exams, she said it was Jesus.
The report said the deceased was asked to withdraw the statement and apologise which she reportedly refused.
The school security was said to have intervened and took her to their post for safety but were overpowered by the mob after which she was killed in the process.
One of her colleagues who spoke with newsmen, lamented that nobody gave the deceased opportunity to defend herself. “We don’t have evidence if she truly blasphemed the Holy Prophet. Nobody gave her the chance to defend herself. They only took the words of the girl who reported to the crowd and they all bounced on her angrily. This is so barbaric. I feel so sad with so unfortunate incident,” the source said.
Meanwhile, the school authority has announced a temporary closure of the institution following the unfortunate incident, while the state government has ordered immediate investigation into the incident. Similarly, Nigerians are demanding justice for the deceased.
