A meeting between representatives of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and the Federal Government’s team led by Prof. Nimi Briggs, yesterday (Monday), ended without a concrete agreement.
But both teams plan to reconvene within 24 hours to consider a draft agreement in continuation of government’s negotiations with the striking university lecturers, as the strike entered its fourth month.
Talks between both parties were held on Monday at the Nigerian Universities Commission (NUC) in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
A senior member of the Union who attended the meeting told journalists that they reached some agreements with the Federal Government, but members had to break and reconvene within 24 hours to consider the new terms in the draft agreement.
