The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has put a Nigerian preacher to shame by refusing to suspend the ongoing industrial action, which commenced 14th February.

A Nigerian cleric, Prophet Ezenwa George Ritabbi of the Christ As Of Old Ministry, had prophesied that the university lecturers would suspend the strike, yesterday, June 17th.

A TikTok video of the pastor prophesying the ASUU strike would end on Friday had gone viral on the internet.

“By this 17th of June, ASUU is calling off the strike,” the pastor declared with his congregation thundering, “Amen!”.

But 24 hours after the June 17th prophecy, ASUU has refused to call off the industrial action. Instead, the university lecturers are insisting that the strike would continue until government meets their demands.

President of ASUU, Prof. Emmanuel Osodoke told newsmen that the university lecturers are not beggars, adding that hunger cannot force the union members to resume academic activities.

Nigerians are currently dragging the prophet on social media. Ratabbi claimed he was a prophet and served a “God that breaks protocol”.

As at the time of filing this report, “17th of June” was trending on Twitter, with many users, mostly undergraduates determined to “drag” Prophet Ritabbi over what many refer to as “his failed prophecy”.
