According to the charge sheet, the student of Public Administration Department of RUGIPO arraigned on a four-count charge was said to have on September 28, 2022 around 3:45pm at the polytechnic main gate at gun point whisked away one Salaja Florence, a student of the institution, to a hotel at Isuada.

The accused was alleged to have beaten the victim when she resisted entering the hotel room and forced her in at gun point.

Florence was allegedly forced to strip at gun point, but the accused could not rape her because she was on her menstrual circle.

The accused was alleged to have snapped her nude, threatening to send the picture to social media if she refused to transfer a sum of N100, 000 to his Wema Bank account which he forwarded to her.

He was said alleged to have forcefully removed a sum N30, 000 from the victim’s wallet before setting her free.

The charge sheet reads in parts: “That you Adebanji Abiodun Fisayo ‘M’ on the 28th day of September, 2022 at about 3:45 pm at L88 Hotel, along Isuada Express Road, Owo in the Owo Magisterial district unlawfully assault one Salaja Florence ‘F’ with intent to have carnal knowledge of her against the order of the nature and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under section 352 of the Criminal Code Cap 37 Vol. 1, Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria 2006.

“That you Adebanji Abiodun Fisayo on the same date, time, and place in the aforementioned magisterial district did attempt to rape one Salaja Florence ‘F’ at gunpoint and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under section 359 of the Criminal Code Cap 37 Vol.1, Law of Ondo State of Nigeria 2006.

“That you Adebanji Abiodun Fisayo on the same date, time, and place in the aforementioned magistrate’s district did rob one Salaja Florence’F’ of the sum of N30,000 (Thirty Thousand Naira Only) and one smart 7 Techno handset at gunpoint and thereby committed an offence contrary to section 401 and punishable under section 402 of the Criminal Code Cap 37 Vol.1, Law of Ondo State of Nigeria 2006.

“That you Adebanji Abiodun Fisayo ‘M’ on the 30th day of September, 2022 at about 3:50 pm at WEMA Bank, Owo in Magisterial district did demand the sum of N100,000 (One Hundred Thousand Naira) from one Salaja Florence ‘F’ with menaces and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under section 406 of the Criminal Code Cap 37 Vol. 1, Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria 2006,” the charge read.

But the accused, who had no attorney to handle his case, pleaded not guilty to all the charges.

The Chief Magistrate, therefore, adjourned the case to October 10, 2022, remanding him in the correctional centre in Owo, to allow the accused to get an attorney.
