The police in Lafia, Nasarawa State have arrested a senior lecturer at the Federal University of Lafia (FULAFIA), Dr. Fred Ekpe Ayokhai, for ruthlessly brutalising a 20-year-old student who fought his daughter over a man.
It was gathered that the senior lecturer, who is the immediate past chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) in the school, was arrested on Friday night, alongside his daughter, Emmanuella Onawegie.
Recall that the FULAFIA lecturer and his entire family had stormed the home of 20-year-old Blessing Mathias to attack her for fighting Emmanuel over a man.
They mercilessly brutalised her using stick, wood and other weapons. They also striped her naked and abandoned her in the bush after filming the whole event.
The police, however, said Emmanuella‘s elder brother, Praise Shola and others who were involved in the attack escaped and are currently at large.
“Sequel to the viral tweet of assault on a female teenager in Lafia, Nasarawa State, the Command swiftly commenced an investigation into the case. It is gratifying to state that, two suspects have been arrested in connection with the case while the vehicle used in conveying the victim to an undisclosed location where she was assaulted has been recovered. Effort is ongoing to arrest the remaining suspects still at-large,” the police tweeted.
